Ellen Rothstein has been practicing law for over 25 years. She received her practical training
from a few small firms with diverse practice areas in Manhattan and on Long Island before starting her own law firm approximately 20 years ago.

Ellen's practice, like her background and training, is diverse. She has a construction law practice which includes filing and enforcing mechanic's liens as well as pursuing breach of construction contract damage claims, lien law trust and related claims.  Ellen's clients are also diverse and have included project developers, property owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and manufacturers' representatives -giving her a unique perspective and ability to see all sides of a conflict and facilitate fashioning a resolution.

As a commercial litigator, Ellen has been involved in routine uncontested breach of contract actions as well as more complex highly contested emotional shareholder and partnership disputes involving professionals, and those that fall somewhere in the middle. Ellen's clients have included professionals, such as accountants and architects; and businesses, most recently in the food import, food services and construction industries. Ellen's litigation background and knowledge of the pitfalls of the various types of contracts and agreements enables her to provide related transactional assistance to her clients as well.

Ellen's real estate litigation practice includes representation of (1) brokers who have been denied commissions, (2) purchasers and sellers who have been denied the benefit of what they bargained for, and (3) lenders in commercial mortgage foreclosure actions. As an outgrowth of this litigation, Ellen handles residential real estate transactions as well-purchases and sales of homes, co-ops and condominiums.

At the beginning of her practice, Ellen did much per diem work for a major property casualty insurance company, a result of which Ellen represents uninsured property owners and those whose insurance carriers have denied coverage for one reason or another in personal injury actions.

Ellen's professional diversity was preceded by her academic accomplishments. Ellen attended the State University of New York at Albany where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1979. In 1982, she received her J.D. from the Hofstra University School of Law.  In 1988, she received her Masters of Laws in Corporate Law from New York University School of Law.
